Holy week at our churches

PALM SUNDAY (14 April) Masses are at normal times. Distribution of palms at all Masses.
Morning Masses: at Christ the King and St Brigid’s please gather in the Halls, and at St Paul’s in the front car park, weather permitting.

WEDNESDAY (17 April) The Chrism Mass 11.30am at the Cathedral. This replaces parish Mass. All sacramental oils are blessed and consecrated, as all priests concelebrate and attend with the Archbishop and repeat their ordination promises.

MAUNDY THURSDAY (18 April) Mass of the Lord’s Supper 8.00pm at St Brigid’s. The beginning of the Sacred Triduum (Three Days). The institution of the Eucharist and Priesthood, and the Call to Service are at the heart of this liturgy. We have the Washing of Feet, and Watching at the Altar of Repose until Midnight.

GOOD FRIDAY (19 April) Commemoration of the Lord’s Passion 3.00pm at both St Paul’s and Christ the King. The Passion – Solemn Intercessions – Veneration of the Cross – Holy Communion, these make up this moving liturgy. There will be Children’s Liturgy at both churches.

HOLY SATURDAY (20 April) Easter Vigil and First Mass of Easter 8.30pm at Christ the King. The central liturgy of the year. The four parts are the Liturgies of Light, of the Word, of the Baptismal Water and the Eucharist.

EASTER SUNDAY (21 April) Masses at usual times. Baptism during 9.00am Mass at Christ the King.
