Don’t be left out, get involved!

Dear parishioners and friends,

The Synod is up and running in our 3 Churches! Our team of Anne Reid, Simon Brockway, Tania Walsh, Pat Williams and Margaret Fegan have started to meet with the various groups within our parishes. This will continue into February, when all parishioners and anyone else interested will have the opportunity to take part in this, the biggest process the Catholic Church has ever undertaken – to listen, to share, to pray and so to plan the future of our Church. Don’t be left out – get involved when the opportunity comes!

Bidding prayers for the Baptism of our Lord (9 January 2022)

Priest:      The Baptism of Jesus marks the beginning of his ministry to us and to all peoples, and therefore we come together with confidence, to put our petitions before the Lord.

Reader;     The response is;

Lord, graciously hear us

We pray for the Church as it seeks to continue the work begun by Jesus.  May the light of Jesus shine through our priests and lay people.. ….…pause…………..

Lord hear us

We pray for Christians and for those of other faiths who are being persecuted for their beliefs.  May people of faith lead the way to a better understanding of one another. ….…pause…………..

Lord hear us

We pray for the people struggling to provide for their families; thinking of families in areas of conflict such as Afghanistan, but also those closer to home who are concerned about the increasing costs of food and heating. . ….…pause…………..

Lord hear us

We pray for Kieran Lonergan and for David Hobbs who have died.  Kieran was a long term member of the Parish.  May they, and all those who have died recently rest in peace.  And we pray for their families and for all those who mourn the loss of a loved one.  May they be comforted    …..…pause…………..

Lord hear us

In silence let us ask God for the needs of our friends and families….long pause…

We ask Mary the mother of our Lord, to join her prayers to ours saying;

            Hail Mary………….

Priest:  God of love, listen to our petitions and grant them through him who lives in glory with You and the Holy Spirit.Amen.

Feast of the Baptism of the Lord

Dear parishioners and friends,

Welcome to 2022, and the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord. This marked the beginning of Our Lord’s three years of public ministry. We give thanks for our own Baptism, for our parents and godparents and all those who brought us to the Sacrament, for the church community where our Baptism was celebrated, and for the priest or minister who baptised us. May God bless them all!

Intercessions for Epiphany (6 January 2022)

Priest: God the Father reveals to all the nations that Christ, his son, is to be their Saviour. Confident in his great love for us all – from kings to the poorest of the poor – we voice our needs and the needs of the world.

Reader: The response to our prayers is Lord, Hear our prayer.

Reader: We pray for the Church, and for all bishops, priests and religious who bring the light of the gospel to those in darkness.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer

Reader:   We pray for the poor and needy, and the helpless. Let us hear their cry and be the ones to help them.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Reader:   Let us pray for ourselves that we may joyously follow our Infant King and bring the light of his love to all we meet.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Reader: Let us pray for those who are sick in body, mind or spirit that they may be helped by caring friends and experience Christ’s blessing.

Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Reader:   We pray for all our family and friends that have died, may they rest in peace in the light of God’s glory, and may those who mourn be comforted.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Now we ask for the intercession of Our Blessed Lady as we say – Hail Mary….

Let us pray for a while in silence, remembering our own needs and the needs of our families.

Priest: Loving Father, hear the prayers that we make in faith and grant us your blessing. We ask this through Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen.
