Christ the King Bidding Prayers for the First Sunday in Lent, 2020

PRIEST – In the first week of Lent we pray to our Heavenly Father for the needs of the church, the world and ourselves

READER –We pray for all members of the church that they may have a good and holy Lent by their fasting, prayers and almsgiving for the benefit of those in need through poverty and suffering due to violence or oppression………Lord in your mercy………….Hear our prayer

We pray for Cafod, for the good work which it undertakes and that this will benefit greatly from the Family Fast Day which is next Friday 6th March ………….Lord in your mercy…..

We pray for the recovery of all who are ill or infirm particularly those affected by the Corona Virus and that an effective vaccine will soon be discovered……… Lord in your mercy…..

We pray for the repose of the souls of those who have recently died and for the comfort of all who are bereaved or who mourn………Lord in your mercy………

We pray for those suffering with depression – perhaps affecting their relationships – that they may receive  help and counselling and so ensure that they avoid any self-harming action…………Lord in your mercy………

 

We ask Mary our Mother to join her prayers with ours as we say ….Hail Mary

In a few moments of silence we bring our own needs before our Heavenly Father………

 Priest:                Let us bring our petitions to the Lord, confident of His mercy and love at all times

Reader:              This week we enter the season of Lent and we ask the Father’s guidance to seek new ways to find Him again and enrich our relationship with Him.

Reader:              For those affected by the severe flooding and adverse weather conditions. We pray that the Lord will inspire the people with the power to assist them to recover and reconstruct their lives.

Reader:              We remember those of our community who are sick in body or mind and think especially of all to whom the Blessed Sacrament is carried each week from our Masses. We thank God for our many dedicated Eucharistic Ministers.

Priest: We come before God joyfully, he has saved us and works marvels for us. Let us now ask him for all our needs

Reader: We pray that wherever there is blindness, prejudice, or lack of vision in the Church, the Lord may enlighten and transform it.

Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Reader: We pray for our parish; for those who minister to us, for our teachers and catechists, for our young people and for the sick and elderly. May we build up our community by giving of our talents and resources as much as we are able to do.

Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Reader: As our country prepares for a general election, we pray for our politicians, that they may seek to serve with honesty and integrity for the good of all, especially the most vulnerable in our society.

Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Reader: We pray for those who are sick, those recovering from surgery and for all who are enduring any kind of suffering.Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Reader: We pray that all those who have died, may find the fullness of joy in God’s presence. We remember especially Paul Walker, husband of Helen and Helen Owen, who have both died recently.

Christ the King Bidding Prayers for the 30th Sunday of the year, 2019

 Remembering the poor man in today’s readings we place our petitions before the Lord asking for the gift of His grace in our lives

The response is “ Lord be close in our times of trouble”

This week we listened with horror to the details of the deaths of the 39 people who died in the back of a lorry as they sought to find a new life in our country. We ask the Lord’s mercy for them and all who mourn them

Today a new initiative of Family Mass is being started in our Parish seeking to unite all of us  as we celebrate  our Family in The Lord We ask the Lord’s blessing for this important new start in our prayer life

Lord be close in our times of need

We pray for the Church through the world but especially in the Middle East where to be a follower of Christ is to be target for atrocities of all kinds

PAUSE

Lord be close in our times of need

Let us pray for all the deceased of our Three Churches remembering those who have died recently. May the Lord grant them eternal rest We ask also that He may comfort those who mourn

Lord be close to us in our times of need

 

Let us ask Mary our mother to join us in our prayers saying Hail Mary…
